Core function 6

To support robust advocacy

Advocacy is one of the key actions undertaken to raise awareness on Protection violations, engage humanitarian leadership, donors and the diplomatic community, as well as local authorities on their respective responsibilities and on Protection priorities. Protection Clusters conduct collective advocacy on behalf of, with or through its AoRs and operational partners based on a collective advocacy strategy or action plan. Advocacy will typically focus on both funding priorities with donors, and on protection concerns conducted towards duty-bearers at local and national levels, non-state armed groups, Humanitarian Coordinator (HC) and Humanitarian Country Team (HCT), donors and Member States, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that protection concerns are considered and addressed. Human Rights mechanisms and media can also be effective channels for collective advocacy engagement.
