COMMUNITY LAND TRUST – AN INSIGHT INTO THE EXISTING LEGAL FRAMEWORKS AND LEGISLATIVE REFORMS IN AFRICA, ASIA, AND AMERICA

NRC, through Trust Law, the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s global pro bono legal programme, engaged a team of law firms across the following jurisdictions, to undertake legal research on the Community Land Trust (CLTs) laws in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Bangladesh, Iraq, and Colombia. The report provides analysis of relevant housing, land, and property laws to identify what tools exist within existing policies and legislation to establish CLTs, and to identify if/how these instruments could be practically used to secure the housing and land rights of refugees and tenure insecure IDPs.
