Cameroon Protection Update - Far North

The Protection Cluster in Cameroon recently published its monthly protection updates for the Far North region. 

  • Far North Region of Cameroon: During the month of January, numerous attacks by armed groups (ISWAP) took place in the department in the districts of Logone Birni and Hile Alifa in the department of Logone-et-Chari; and in several localities of Mayo Tsanaga. These attacks caused civilian injuries and destruction of property and homes as well as resulted in new population movements. A total number of 313 protection incidents were reported by the protection monitors during the month of January.

The Protection Cluster calls for greater support to fund the Protection Sector’s emergency response to respond to the crisis in Logone Birni and to strengthened the Nexus approach in the context of the Far North crisis.
